La Horra
The history of vine growing in La Horra goes back to ancestral times, with evidence dating from the Bronze Age, through the Roman era and consolidating during the repopulation of the 12th century. By the 19th century, production reached 100,000 cántaras of wine per year (1,600,000 litres), reflecting the area’s deep winegrowing tradition.
La Horra sits at the centre of Ribera del Duero, north of the River Duero. Surrounded by scrubland and forests, its gentle slopes hold hundreds of hectares of vineyard, where Tinta Fina is the leading variety.
The soils are deep, with sands over limestone and clay strata. This, together with our location in the coldest part of the Ribera del Duero of Burgos, means Tinta Fina offers us unique finesse and aromatic richness.
The climate is continental, with marked temperature contrasts between day and night.
