El Secreto de María Albillo 2024 — White Ribera del Duero

Among the Tinta del País vines of the old vineyards of La Horra, the Albillo Mayor vines stand out as a hidden treasure, a reflection of a past in which white and red varieties grew side by side. From those vines with more than 70 harvests behind them comes this singular white.

Harvest and winemaking

We selected 1,500 kilos of the best clusters which, after gentle pressing, left the must in contact with the skins for 12 hours. Only 675 litres of free-run must were taken to ferment in French oak barrels. Fermentation and the subsequent ageing of 9 months took place in three French oak barrels, with weekly bâtonnage to keep the lees in suspension.

Tasting notes

The result is a wine of impressive complexity, full of nuance, dense and voluminous yet fresh at the same time, in which Albillo Mayor conveys the living essence of the climate and landscapes of Ribera del Duero.

Food pairing and serving

Ideal with chargrilled fish, rice dishes, poultry and semi-cured cheeses — and even with suckling-lamb chops, which in Ribera del Duero know no colour rules. Serve at 9–11 °C.
